I am a Peruvian born of indigenous parents who come from a village in the Andes, a village in which I spent a great part of my childhood. While there, I learned the customs and traditions of my people. I also learned Quechua, a language which the Incan Empire disseminated throughout all of the Andean region of South America.
It was in the Quechuan language that I heard my grandmother narrate stories and myths which came from our Andean ancestors. These reflected the perspective on life of a people who cradled me in my infancy and whom I fondly remember, sadly miss and greatly love. For this reason, I wish to share with you some of the sentiments of my people through my compositions inspired by the Peruvian Andes.
